1. Do you have to take the 100 Series F.I.T. Courses before the 200 Series F.I.T. Courses?
  1. There are no prerequisites for the 100 Series F.I.T. Courses or the 200 Series F.I.T. Courses. Courses do not need to be taken in order, as there is information overlap. 2. What are the prerequisites for the 300 and 400 Series F.I.T. Courses?
  1. To enroll in the 300 and 400 Series F.I.T. Courses, the student must have taken one of our 200 series F.I.T. Courses (or an equivalent – must provide evidence of other class/training for approval).
3. What is the most comprehensive class?
  1. The most comprehensive class FaCE offers is the F.I.T. 202 Facial Examination Course, which is only offered in-person. For more information on what this class covers, please review course catalog, contact face@idealinnovations.com, or call 571-480-5000.

5. What is the difference between Facial Identification (FI), Facial Recognition (FR), and Facial Image Comparison?
  1. Facial Identification is the discipline of image-based comparisons of human facial features.
  2. Facial Recognition (by automated systems) is the automated searching of a facial image (probe) against a known collection, typically resulting in a list of candidates ranked by computer-evaluated similarity score.
  3. Facial Image Comparison is the manual process to identify similarities or differences between (a.) two (or more) facial images or (b.) facial image(s) and a subject for the purpose of determining if they represent the same person or a different person.
6. What is the difference between an assessment, a review, and an examination?
  1. Assessment is the one-to-one (1:1) comparison of faces in a high-throughput environment or in a law enforcement setting.
  2. Review is a human review of a candidate list (from an FR system) to identify possible matches.
  3. Examination is a human undertaking a formal systematic examination (e.g., ACE-V) of facial images to determine if the same or different person is depicted.
7. What comparison methodologies are used in facial comparisons?
  1. Morphological Analysis is the direct comparison of class and individual facial characteristics without explicit measurement.
  2. Analysis, Comparison, Evaluation, and Verification (ACE-V) is a scientific method of analysis, comparison, evaluation, and verification utilized in most comparative processes.
